Uninstalling PhotoFrame Manager

System Requirements

Before you begin installing PhotoFrame Manager, do check that your computer meets the minimum system requirements.

PC running Microsoft ® Windows ® XP SP3 or higher (32-bit version) : PhotoFrame Manager has been tested primarily with Microsoft ® Windows XP ® SP3, 32-bit version. If you are running any other version of Microsoft ® Windows ® that is capable of supporting the Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 (including all versions of Microsoft ® Windows ® XP and Microsoft ® Windows ® Vista), then it is likely that PhotoFrame Manager will work properly on your computer but this cannot be guaranteed. If your computer is not capable of supporting the Microsoft ® .NET Framework version 3.5 then PhotoFrame Manager will not work. Other types of computers, such as Mac computers, that run Microsoft ® Windows ® in a separate 'virtual machine' may also run PhotoFrame Manager successfully though this cannot be guaranteed.

General Hardware Requirements : There are no specific requirements to run PhotoFrame Manager beyond the requirements for Microsoft ® Windows ® and the Microsoft ® .NET Framework version 3.5 generally, apart from modest requirements for hard disc space for the installation (5MB should be ample).

Hard Disc Drive / Other Storage : However, any software that manipulates pictures can place considerable demands on a computer and you will need to have sufficient hard disc space to store your photos and disc space or USB memory keys (as required by your photo frame or other display device) to store exported photos ready for display.

Memory : Similarly, unless adequate memory is available, PhotoFrame Manager may run slowly or be unable to handle PhotoCollections of any significant size. 512MB (or possibly even 768MB) should be regarded as the absolute bare minimum, 1,024MB / 1GB as the minimum for comfort and 2,048MB / 2GB is recommended.

Processor : Again, processor speed will affect how fast PhotoFrame Manager runs. For handling large PhotoCollections, the faster the better.

Internet connection : This is an absolute requirement in order to complete the license activation of PhotoFrame Manager and periodically thereafter so that PhotoFrame Manager can confirm that the license remains valid (though after the initial activation PhotoFrame Manager will work without always having an internet connection so long as it can occasionally access the internet). Please make sure that any firewall, proxy server, anti-virus or other security software does not block PhotoFrame Manager's connection to the internet. This may require you to make appropriate configuration changes. See also the FAQs for details of exactly what internet access is required.

Photo Frame : Required - unless you simply want to prepare improved slide shows to show on your computer or prepare photos for printing or showing on the web.

Installation

Installation of PhotoFrame Manager is very straightforward.

Step 1 : Log on to your computer as a user with sufficient privileges to be able to install new software (typically as an 'administrator' rather than a 'limited' user).

Step 2 : If you have not already done so, go to the Buy Now page on the PhotoFrame Manager web site and buy sufficient licenses for PhotoFrame Manager for all the computers on which you wish to install PhotoFrame Manager - or buy licenses through listings on eBay.

Step 3 : The installation ZIP file is then delivered to you automatically by e-mail - or, if you have purchased through eBay, it will be posted to you on a CD.

Step 4 : Double-click the ZIP file in the e-mail (or on the CD) to open it, then click the File menu and select Extract All - or click Extract all files in the Folder Tasks pane.

Follow the instructions in the Extraction Wizard to extract the MSI installation file to a folder on your computer. Open that folder to show the MSI - this is automatic if you tick the Show extracted files box at the end of the wizard.

Please note that these instructions assume that your computer is configured with only the standard, built-in Windows ZIP utilities. If you have any other file compression / extraction software installed, the process to extract the MSI file from the ZIP file may be slightly different

Then double-click the extracted MSI installation file to run the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

If a warning message like the one below pops up, click Run

Open File - Security Warning

If you are prompted to install the Microsoft .NET Framework, click here for details of how to install it.

Step 5 : Run PhotoFrame Manager from the Start / All Programs / PhotoFrame Manager menu.

Step 6 : When the Licensing Dialog Box appears, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the license activation process.

Step 7 : Use the Options item on the Tools Menu to set up the size of your photo frame and default settings for new PhotoCollections.

Step 8 : Create your first PhotoCollection, relax and enjoy your photos!

Microsoft .NET Framework

If the Microsoft .NET Framework is not already installed on your computer, you may be prompted to install it. This is required. Without it, PhotoFrame Manager will NOT work. So click Yes.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework

This will take you to a page on the Microsoft web site. Click Get the .NET Framework 3.5 to continue - the other download links are not needed.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5

On the download page that then appears, click the Download button.

Download Microsoft .NET Framework

If you are then prompted with security warnings, in each case click Run.

File Download - Security Warning

Internet Explorer - Security Warning

When the main installation screen appears, click the button to say that you have read and ACCEPTED the terms of the License Agreement and click Install

Install Microsoft .NET Framework

When the installation is complete, the confirmation screen appears. Click Exit.

Install Microsoft .NET Framework

It is strongly recommended that you now go to the Windows Update or Microsoft Update web site (click the Start button and the Windows Update or Microsoft Update) and download any available service packs or security updates for the Microsoft .NET Framework. In the update site:

EITHER click the Express button;

OR click the Custom button and select any updates in the High Priority or Software, Optional sections that mention version 2.0, 3.0 or 3.5 of the .NET Framework.

Repeat this until no more updates for the Microsoft .NET Framework are found.

Installation of the Microsoft .NET Framework is now complete. Click here to go back to Step 4 of the installation instructions. Then double-click the MSI installation file again to restart the PhotoFrame Manager installation.

Uninstalling PhotoFrame Manager

If you need to remove PhotoFrame Manager from your computer:

Step 2 : Uninstall PhotoFrame Manager, from the Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs list.
